Hazard: A hazard is something with the potential to cause harm. This
can
be substances, machines, methods of work, electricity etc

Risk: A risk is the likelihood that harm may result, taking account of
both frequency and severity. The risk can range from the trivial (a
paper
cut) to catastrophic (multiple deaths/mass ill health). The number of
people affected will also affect the degree of risk, known as the risk
rating. Training, supervision, planning, and safety procedures also
have
to be taken into account.

Danger: Danger is a state or situation which is the product of a hazard
and the associated risk. An illustration of the difference between
danger
and risk is illustrated by the following: Where there are high voltage
electrical conductors, there is a permanent danger of electrocution;
however, the risk of electrocution to persons in close proximity to the
conductors would vary, for example between a competent electrician and
a
young child.
