The Tangguh LNG Project is a world class integrated upstream and LNG
liquefaction plant project located in Bintuni Bay , West Papua Province ,
Indonesia . BP is the Unit operator (37% working interest) leading an
international joint venture that includes CNOOC, Nippon Oil, Mitsubishi, Inpex,
LNG Japan, Kanematsu and Mitsui. Tangguh Project was sanctioned in March 2005,
and is one of the 5 major New Profit Centers in BP’s growth strategy. The
identified gas resource base is c.. 20 Tcf from three PSCs in the Bintuni Basin
, with significant additional potential in the area.
Tangguh Phase I is under construction with first LNG production expected in Q4
2008. Phase I includes two offshore production platforms, subsea pipelines, two
LNG liquefaction trains and associated storage tanks, loading jetty and other
facilities. Initial gas production of 1.4 Bcfd will come from the Vorwata Field
to support delivery of the design LNG production capacity of 7.6 MTPA. Sales
have been arranged under four long term agreements with customers in China ,
Korea and Mexico .
The Tangguh Phase II expansion project is in the Appraise Stage, and is
comprised of one or more additional LNG trains supported by additional tranches
of gas from known fields in the three PSC unit areas. BP is also pursuing
interest in adjacent exploration acreage. Phase II is expected to access high
value market opportunities.
Tangguh LNG will operate and control 7 (seven) LNG ships to deliver LNG cargoes
on Delivery Ex Ship basis (DES cargo) and one of the Buyers will provide their
LNG ships to lift Free On Board (FOB) LNG cargoes.
The Tangguh LNG Sales Operation & Shipping Team has been established to deal
with deliveries of all LNG sales from Tangguh, primarily by ensuring the timely
delivery of the chartered vessels and management of their subsequent operation.
To support our operation, we invite all suitably qualified professionals to
come, join and grow with us as:
1. LNG Marine Superintendent Assistant
Accountabilities:
• Understudy all aspects of the LNG Marine Superintendents position
• Assisting in development of SO&ST operating policy and procedures
• Monitor operating standards on board to Charterers’ requirements
• Monitor vessel performance including customer feedback, SIRE, PSC findings
and optimization
• Assist with investigating any incidents/near misses/trends
• Keep abreast of changes to legislation, developments in technology and
industry best practice
• Provide 24 hour emergency cover/response as necessary
• Assist/undertake compatibility studies
• Assist with the preparation for all Nautical service contracts
• Assist with maintaining Shipyard supervision, visits and inspections on a
regular basis
• Assist sales operations team with scheduling as required
• Analyzing all Marine and Safety Information from Classification societies,
IMO, Flag and Port • state Authorities and Industry groups
• Reviewing ISM/SMS procedures on board the Tangguh Fleet and Office
• Assist with chartering in and out LNG vessels
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years shipping experience, including recent operational tanker
experience in a senior capacity as a Deck Officer (LNG preferred)
• Familiarity with Safety Management Systems and industry best practice
• Minimum Deck Officer Class 2 Certificate of Competency or degree in
marine related discipline
• Experience of working with different cultures
• Previous shore experience in similar role advantageous
• Computer literate
• Fluent in oral and written English
2. LNG Technical Support Assistant
Accountabilities:
• Be responsible for understudying all roles within the shipping team
• Assist marine supt with compatibility studies, cargo and marine issues
• Assist tech superintendent with all technical aspects of the vessel's
operations
• Assist the shipyard superintendent with operational and technical issues
regarding vessels design and performance
• Assist the shipping analyst with the shipping database input and vessel
performance monitoring
• Develop knowledge of the technical and commercial operation of the Tangguh
LNG vessels
• Act as cover for any of the shipping roles when necessary
• Provide 24 hour emergency cover/response as necessary
• Assist with report writing, data collection, vessel inspections etc as
required.
Requirements:
• Shipping experience, including recent operational tanker experience as an
officer
• Familiarity with Safety Management Systems, industry best practice and their
application to shipping,
• Certificate of Competency (deck or engine)or degree in marine related
discipline
• Experience of working with different cultures
• Fluent in oral and written English
