Kindly see http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/stel.html for your referenced. STEL = Short Term Exposure Limit (STEL) is defined by ACGIH <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/acgih.html> as the concentration <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/concentration.html> to which workers can be exposed continuously for a short period of time without suffering from
1. irritation <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/irritant.html> 2. chronic <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/chroniceffect.html> or irreversible tissue damage 3. narcosis <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/narcosis.html> of sufficient degree to increase the likelihood of accidental injury, impair self-rescue or materially reduce work efficiency STEL's are generally used only when toxic <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/toxic.html> effects have been reported from high acute <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/acutetoxicity.html> (short-term) exposures in either humans or animals. An STEL is not a separate independent exposure limit, but supplements (TWA) time-weighted average limits <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/pel.html> where there are recognized acute effects from a substance whose toxic effects generally chronic <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/chroniceffect.html> (long-term) in nature. For example, one can not be exposed to an STEL concentration <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/concentration.html> if the TLV-TWA (time weighted average for an 8 hour shift; see Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) <http://www.ilpi.com/msds/ref/pel.html> ) would be exceeded. Workers can be exposed to a maximum of four STEL periods per 8 hour shift, with at least 60 minutes between exposure periods. Ditunggu komen dari rekan2 Have a nice day. wassalam kkk Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com
