IMO books go electronic
(July 16 2010)

Witherby Publishing Group is to provide IMO's publications as eBooks.

Publications such as MARPOL, SOLAS and IGC code are now available to download,
with users offered the flexibility of downloading an IMO book online, from
anywhere worldwide and viewing it via the Witherby Seamanship eBook reader.

Witherby Seamanship's eBook reader is a program designed to collaborate and
manage a variety of published books, information papers, publications and
reports from many Industry organisations, such as SIGTTO, INTERTANKO and OCIMF.

With the inclusion of the IMO's publications, users can now manage all of their
marine industry publications within one eReader.

Witherby Publishing has been involved in producing, protecting and publishing
e-books for more than 10 years, and has 100,000 plus e-books in use on board
ships today.

Managing director Iain Macneil commented: "We are delighted to add the IMO's
range of publications into our eBook reader. This has been demanded by the
industry for some time now and will allow ships and their operators to manage
all their codes and guidance in a single eBook reader, with all the powers of
targeted search and instant reference that this will bring."

This eBook reader was created specifically for the Marine Industry and allows
downloading and unlocking of eBooks 24/7.

With the imminent release of a network version, the eBook reader is already
widely used by operators and management companies and is an ideal accompaniment
to other electronic products, such as digital chart corrections, digital
regulations such as M-Notices, Seamanship Library or IMO Vega, the publisher
said.

The eBook reader is available as a free download and allows easy
reading/referencing or searching of over 500 marine books.
