In Deep Trouble over EMSA Threat
Jul 20, 2011

Philippine maritime industry is seriously in deep trouble if the European
Maritime Safety Administration (EMSA) make good in its threat of making life
difficult for Filipino seafarers onboard oceangoing vessels coming into
European ports should the Philippines fail to comply with its 2006
recommendations on seafarer education and training.

Apparently, EMSA has been quite aware that the Philippines has not done
anything significant to comply to its recommendation made five years ago and is
now actually doing last-minute cramming just to beat the impose deadline of
August 31, 2011.
