Saya ingin update info mengenai online test dari Nautical Institute yang
rencananya mulai diberlakukan awal October 2012 untuk DP Basic Course,ada
perubahan rencana dan mulai berlakunya di tahun 2013. Dan saya ingin share info
saja mengenai NI Logbook(masa berlakunya) yang saya rasa cukup sering menjadi
pertanyaan bagi saudara-saudara pelaut. Berikut saya copy paste email dari Mr.
Noel Leong di L3-DPCS:
Hi Hendra
Thank you for registering the students. I will make arrangements for the
immigration letters sent to you during this week.
Pertaining to your query about the online test. The latest update is NI will
be
delaying the roll out for this online test. The new date advised to all
Training Centres is 1st Jan 2013. As NI is still gathering
feedback, they have not indicated how to approach students failing the
online test. Would update you again when NI updates all, don’t want to
confuse you with their current guidelines which we are expecting to
change again later this year.
Would like to highlight another case and important point to take note when
registering students for the DP Advanced Course. During the last
course, Mr. Sulistyo ran into some problems pertaining on his NI Logbook and is
now in discussions with NI directly.
Prior to registering any students for any future DP Advanced Course, please
sound off to the student that his NI logbook would expire in 5 years.
The start date would be the date that the student completes his DP Basic
Course. If the student wishes to register for a DP advanced Course,
the student must have enough time available to complete 180 days (6
months) DP experience after completing his DP Advanced Course at any NI
Accredited Training Centre within NI’s stipulated 5 year validity
period. As such the latest date that the student can register for his DP
Advanced Course is at 4 year 6 months after completing his DP Basic
Course. This would mean that after completing his course, he would
immediately sign on a DP vessel for 6 months and clock the DP
experience.
To be safe, the latest date that the student should keep in mind is at
Year 4, this would leave him with 1 year to accumulate the 180 days DP
experience and have a valid completed NI Logbook submitted to NI for his
certification.
NI will not give any concession on this policy. If the Student cannot
complete his NI Logbook within NI’s stipulated 5 year validity period,
the student would need to retake his DP Basic Course again to “restart”
the whole process, the Training School would then re stamp the student’s old
logbook for this matter. NI did not comment on their concessions
on old DP experience accumulated. This is painful for the student, as
it means extra training costs and time incurred to get his DP
Certification.
Currently Mr. Sulistyo is in closed talks with NI on how best to resolve this
matter. To ensure that the Student is clear, please check their DP
Basic Completion course date and advise them prior to registering them
for any future DP Advanced Course. If in doubt, get the student to send you a
copy of their DP basic Course completion on page 1 of their NI
logbook to check. (attached reference)

Berikut jadwal untuk DP Course di bulan October - November di L3-DPCS:
* 29 October - DP Basic Class
* 05 November - DP Basic Class
* 12 November - fully booked
* 19 November - fully booked
* 26 November - DP Basic/Advance Class
Untuk di tanggal 26 November masih belum dipastikan apakah untuk DP Basic atau
DP Advance Class, tergantung dari lebih banyak mana yang mendaftar, karena
berbeda dibandingkan dengan DP Training Center lainnya, di L3-DPCS hanya ada 1
kelas saja tiap minggu-nya. Jadi semua tergantung dari lebih banyak mana
peminatnya.
Untuk DP Maintenance Course, kami sarankan untuk mengambil di C-Mar Asia Pte
Ltd karena di L3-DPCS yang digunakan bukan converteam/konsberg tapi L3, kecuali
bila memang saudara pelaut sudah mengetahui dan memang berniat untuk
mempelajari L3.
