Subject: ISRAEL - PROPOSED LEGISLATION TO CHANGE FROM SABBATH TO A SUNDAY
DAY OF REST
This was sent to me and I thought it was very interesting and that I should
get it out to you ...
This is an e-mail received from Elder James Hayward. Elder Hayward is a
retired [Seventh-day Adventist] Pastor, former president of the Illinois
Conference, and a former associate with the White Estate who states that,
For about two years I have been receiving Email news from the Arutz Sheva
Israel National News Service in Israel, and today I received the following
email news item of proposed legislation by an Israeli legislator:
May 31, 2007:
"Sabbath-Sunday Bill Survey Shows Support by Hillel Fendel MK Zevulun Orlev
(NRP) has announced the findings of a poll showing a 56% support rate for
his proposed legislation making Sunday a day of rest and allowing some
public transportation and entertainment on the Sabbath.
"Orlev's bill would change the official approach to Sabbath as the country's
day of rest. Though businesses and government offices would continue to be
closed, places of entertainment would be permitted to open - and public
transportation, now banned in most cities on the Sabbath, would be available
for that purpose. The bill stipulates that such transportation and
entertainment would be carried out with maximum sensitivity to the religious
public.
"A survey commissioned by Orlev finds that 56% of the public support his
initiative, while 30% object. The poll was carried out by Brain Base (Maagar
Mochot) Institute, headed by Prof. Yitzchak Katz.
"Orlev's bill, which he proposed last week, also calls for a second day of
rest during the week - Sunday - during which businesses and offices would be
closed. This would enable Sabbath-observant families to spend more time
together, Orlev explains. Work hours lost to Sunday would be made up largely
by increasing the workday on Mondays through Fridays from 8 to 9 hours.
. . . .
Orlev said his bill was formulated with the help of leading
religious-Zionist rabbis, and does not openly permit activities that are
forbidden by the Torah, "but rather does not mention them."
MK Yitzchak Levy of the National Union party said the bill paves the way for
further deterioration in the character of the Sabbath in the State of Israel
The National Union and the NRP joined forces for the last national election
 merging into one electoral list."
MY COMMENTS ON THE ABOVE - Elder Hayward :
When visiting Israel some years ago I saw how strict Israel once was on
Sabbath keeping. A sign was posted on our hotel room wall that stated: "NO
WRITING ON THE SABBATH". And all public transportation was stopped on the
Sabbath. How could they ever change to Sunday worship like Rev. 13
indicates?
I well remember [when] one of our ministers at a meeting of our leaders in
the Northwest U.S. challenged our interpretation of Revelation 13, as well
as Ellen White's statements by his saying that the Jews would never forsake
the seventh day Sabbath for Sunday, nor would the Muslims abandon Friday for
Sunday worship to accept Sunday as a day of rest.
THE FOLLOWING BIBLE (Rev 13) AND ELLEN WHITE PROPHECIES ARE CLEAR:
"...all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon
which gave power unto the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who
is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him"... And power was
given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell
upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written the book of
life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." "As America, the
land of religious liberty, shall unite with the papacy in forcing the
conscience and compelling men to honor the false sabbath, the people of
every other country on the globe will be led to follow her example." - 6T 18

It is well to remember that on May 29, 1961 the U.S. Supreme Court's
decision was that Sunday law legislation does not violate the Constitution.
To this date, that decision has never been challenged or changed.

ABIDING IN CHRIST:  "If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love;
even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love." John
15:10
"Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of
judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world....We love Him, because
He first loved us....For this is the love of God, that we keep His
commandments: and His commandments are not grievous." 1 John 4:17-5:3.
