Cosmic Crisis: The Disruption of
God’s Established Order

To encourage students to avoid the
deceptions of Satan.
ASSOCIATE: Why do I need to learn
this lesson?
This lesson will motivate us to
depend upon God by following His commandments.
DISCOVER: What does the Bible say
about the origin of sin?
The origin of sin in God’s
universe will remain a mystery because there was no reason for it. The
conflicting emotions within Lucifer,
together with the misuse of his God-given freedom resulted in a full-pledged
rebellion against God which brought suffering and death.
HOW CAN WE AVOID SATAN’S
DECEPTIONS?
Step 1 – Understand the origin of
sin
A. What does the text tell us about the origin
of sin? Ezekiel 28:14-17
Unlike God, who is eternal, evil
and sin had a beginning. Because God is love and holy, and everything He
created was good, sin did not originate in Him. The self corruption was rooted
in
selfishness that misused the gifts of beauty and wisdom that God gave him.
Though Lucifer was right next to God, he wanted to be above God. “Lucifer in
heaven sinned in the light of God’s glory. . . . Understanding the character of
God, knowing His goodness, Satan chose to follow his own selfish, independent
will. This choice was final. There was no more that God could do to save
him.”—EGW, DA, pp, 761, 762. How often has it been that no matter what you had,
you still wanted more? Whose character
are you manifesting?
B. How did Satan through the
serpent misrepresent God to Eve? Gen. 3:4, 5
In order for Satan to persuade
Eve to disobey God, he sought to attack the character of God. He said,
basically, that God was a selfish
God, not a God of love. Satan was camouflaging His nature through the
appearance of a loving attitude.
Step 2 – Complete Dependence upon
God
A. How does this text help us understand the
link between God’s love and His law? Matt. 22:37-40
>From the foundation of the
universe God established laws for the benefit of His created beings. In
contrast to loving obedience, there is
lawlessness (I John 3:4). Lawlessness
refers to a deep- seated attitude in the heart of rebellious human beings.
Created as free beings, Adam and Eve had to demonstrate their willingness to
enjoy eternity with the Creator. Their
obedience to the divine command would show that they were freely choosing to
enjoy eternal life with Him. Satan
attacks and opposes, offering instead total “independence” from God. We need to
be dependent upon God.
B. What was the final result of anti-god
behavior of Lucifer in heaven? Rev.
12:7-9
There was war in heaven. Satan and his supporters were defeated in
heaven and on the cross, and they will extinguish from the universe at the
appropriate time. The resolution
of the sin problem will
reestablish a perfect moral harmony throughout all of God’s creation.
SUMMARY: Lucifer, a free being,
abused the freedom that God gave him, and he cherished evil thoughts until
those thoughts turned into action against God’s government and God
Himself. God established laws for our
benefits. We need that law in order to know
how to live properly.
APPLY: How can this knowledge
about the origin of sin affect my life today?
Realizing that the enemy is doing
everything to deceive everyone,

• I want to depend upon God through my loving obedience.

about the origin of sin this coming week?
Discuss: What are the practical
ways I can do to avoid the deceptions of Satan?

I need to avoid satan’s deceptions 1. by studying deligently the bible everyday
2. by totally depending upon God I ofen depend upon my own power In this coming
week I will appropriate special times to studying the Bible and praying to God
everyday
