I think my point is being misconstrued as anti-Bernie, far from it. I simply echoed that Danish welfare as it stands is pretty racist, thanks to Pia and her ilk. I am not even sure where Trotsky fits into all of this and why stupid people should be clubbed together:) And yes, Denmark has it right but I will say it is a utopian fantasy for the US to mimic Denmark. Start working with what will it take to have a Denmark in the US in terms of tax increases. So late in the game we talk about $15 hourly wage that too gradual increase over a few years, a good beginning no doubt but what will it take to get it to 18-20 dollars an hour? Australia (not Scandinavia) already has it and they pay for it with taxes and so does Denmark. May be the US federal system should be thoroughly decentralized and each state should have the power to introduce its own welfare system. It might be easier to do it on a smaller scale and then Bernie will have a chance. But then the US isn't breaking up, is it? Being from Washington state there is not even a state income tax! So what is to be done?
