       BARBARA HOGATE FERRIN CHAIR  IN   ECONOMICS



   Applications and nominations are invited for the Barbara Hogate Ferrin 
Chair in Economics.We are seeking candidates with outstanding achievement 
in teaching and research in the field of Labor Economics.Applicants 
should have a demonstrated ability to incorporate international issues in 
either their teaching or their research-e.g. the effect of trade 
agreements such as Nafta or Gatt on labor,the effects of increased 
capital mobility on labor,issues of international labor mobility,the 
impact of MNC'S on labor.The Ph.D. together with a minimum of five years 
teaching experience is required.The ideal candidate will teach two 
courses in labor economics,one in the area of international trade,open 
economy macroeconomics or a related field,and will share in the 
department's offerings in introductory and intermediate theory and 
statistics.The normal course load is five courses per year.Review of 
applications will begin immediately upon receipt,and will continue until 
the position is filled.

      In addition to a competitive salary, the position includes an 
annual stipend for research and travel.Tenured faculty receive eighty 
percent of salary during a sabbatical year.Connecticut College is a
