               "THANKS BUT NO THANKS!"
Liberate Aztlan Declaration & Press Conference
          Wednesday, 5:00 P.M., November 23, 1994
          Plaza Olvera, Downtown Los Angeles

As Thanksgiving nears, native peoples living
within the confines of these "United States of
Aggression" know that we have nothing to be
thankful for. Beginning over 500 years ago - when
the whites started stumbling upon our shores - our
ancestors took them in, instructed them in the
ways of this hemisphere and allowed their very
survival. In return, we were subjected to
genocide... the theft and rape of our homelands...
an economic exploitation which continues to this
very day.

In 1994 La Raza - an indigenous people
colonized on two sides of a frontera falsa - saw
our economic poverty, social subjugation and
political powerlessness driven home by the passage
of Proposition 187. November 8 left us slapped in
the face: decades of heroic service in the U.S.
military, toiling in the fields and factories,
promoting social justice, and support of the
Democratic Party meant absolutely nothing.

Proposition 187 is a wake-up call to La Raza
and a clear indication of how terrified AmeriKKKa
is of a growing Chicano Mexicano population and a
wave of Raza Nationalism which is sweeping over
Aztlan - Mexico Ocupado (that region which the
white settlers falsely name the "Southwest U.S.").

Proposition 187 nakedly exposed the racist
history and current reality of AmeriKKKa. It has
left La Raza with the stark realization that we are
considered alien in our own homeland. The truth is
that promoters of this racist "legislation" are not
really worried about "illegal aliens", welfare
mothers, drug dealers, gang-members," or other such
negative labels: its true purpose is to keep
Chicano Mexicanos - "documented" and
"undocumented", from gaining political power in
Occupied Mexico... deny us services and educational
rights we gained during the struggles of the 1960's
and 1970's... subject us to growing migra/terrorism
and, in a fascist wave of "ethnic cleansing", send
us south of a militarily imposed "border": The
real problem for white settlers is not
"immigrants", the problem is us - La Raza - our
potential for political power, and our rightful
native claim to this colonized land.

This Thanksgiving and forever, La Raza must
state "Thanks, but no thanks!" On November 23rd,
at 5:00 P.M., Raza will gather at Plaza Olvera to
issue a Liberate Aztlan Declaration, mobilize
support for the economic boycott of those who
financially support racism, call for non-compliance
with racist legislation and initiate the creation
of alternative barrio-based services, and -
starting with East Los Angeles - to organize a
sanctuary movement, patrolling our streets in
response to police-migra terrorism, and turning our
barrios into migra-free zones: even if we have to
do it block-by-block!

If services to any of our people are denied,
then we will create our own. Chicano Mexicano
doctors, nurses, lawyers, educators, students, and
Raza-at-large are being called upon by the Los
Angeles Chicano Moratorium Committee to create
clinicas and escuelas - independent of a racist
system - staffed, equipped and housed by those
volunteers who proudly stand up against racism.

We're no longer marching to support racist
Democratic candidates who call for more border
patrol agents... to perpetuate liberal compromises
we always end up burnt by... or to justify the
sorry existence of those radicals-in-their-own-
minds who deny La Raza our inalienable right to
Self-Determination: we're pursuing the agenda of
Chicano Mexicano Empowerment, independent of a
bogus two-party system, and which is based in Raza
Unity to meet the ever-growing needs of our
barrios.

Moratorium Committee, P.O. Box 63215, Los Angeles,

DEPORT THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM! WE DIDN'T CROSS THE
BORDER, THE BORDER CROSSED US! LIBERATE AZTLAN!
