Dear pen-lrs,

At least once a week, someone calls me asking for a statistic they need to
bash some nasty right-winger/Republicat. At some point or other, a pen-lr
has probably posted the numbers that person needs. So, I wanted to throw
out an idea to the list and see what people think.

I'd like to put together something I'm for the moment calling "Attack Stat
Central," a web/gopher site where progressive academics, community
researchers, or reporters, could easily grab a useful stat when they
needed it. Seeing as I'm already burdened by many unfunded mandates, I'd
like to figure out a way of culling this info without having to do a lot of
work, such as grabbing such stats as they appear in pen-l discussions or by
occasionally asking folks for their favorite attack stats. Does anyone
have any ideas about the best way to do this? Has anyone had experience
trying to do something similar on paper? Any suggestions, comments, or
rants would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
