I am writing as a virtual ignoramous in this area. Given
this state of ignorance, I would much appreciate tips from people
on recent good work on the left on immigration. I would welcome
both literature references and names of people. I am interested
in the issue from the perspective of the U.S. labor market, but
by no means exclusively that. I would welcome names and references
of both economists and other social scientists. I have, by the
way, looked through the current symposium in the JEP, so my need
for mainstream references is not nearly so pressing. What I
would like to know is whether, and in what ways, people on the
left have something different to say than what I read in the JEP.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
