Colleagues,

I've got a mission for some of you.

I've been enlisted to help some fairly
substantial progressive forces in South
Africa obtain advice on macroeconomic
policy from U.S. economists. As some
of you may know, I wouldn't know beans
about this myself. My role will be
largely administrative.

SA progressives would like help in responding
to the "GEAR" policy ("Growth, Employment,
and Redistribution) in particular and
structural adjustment programs in general.
Those in the know will be aware that the
SA government has a problematic posture
on this stuff.

Please e-mail me off-list if you are
interested in participating.

What is involved will be reading and
providing comments on assorted documents,
all via a low-traffic Internet mailing
list. More substantial participation
would of course be welcome.

Thanks for your help.

Incidentally, this is not an EPI operation.
