Friends,

I am reading Martin Hart-Landsberg's new book, "Korea: Division,
Re-Unification, & U.S. Foreign Policy," published by Monthly Review.
This is an excellent book, full of interesting details and wonderfully
well-written. I had not realized the extent to which the U.S. gov't.
collaborated with the Japanese in Korea after WW2. Nor the extent to
which the gov't crushed the popular movements in the U.S.-controlled
zone.

I recommend this book very highly to all who want to get some good
historical background for and good Marxist analysis of the current
situation in Korea.
