-----Original Message----- From: Doug Henwood <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >And yeah, Serbian military murdering unarmed people are so much braver than >NATO military. -Why do you have to turn every critique of US/NATO into an endorsement of -Milo/Serbia? That's a propagandist's trick. When a post talks about Milosevic being a "shrewd gambler" who has "outsmarted" NATO, without once noting that his "shrewd" move was cultural genocide, I am not the one involved in making propaganda tricks. The post I was commenting on added nothing that Max or I had not said about the limits of bombing as strategy, but couched it in terms of apologia for Milosevic. The post even said Milosevic (in a positive way) is no Saddam Hussein. As I've said, I think what Hussein did in Kuwait is far less reprehensible than what Milosevic and the Serbs have done in Kosovo. There are condemnations of the NATO bombing that carefully include condemnations of the cultural genocide in Kosovo, which I respect even if I may disagree. But Anti-NATO propaganda that fails to make that balance is an apology for Milosevic as far as I'm concerned. --Nathan Newman
