You equate the potential with the actual. As to replacing politics with philosophy. If I remember correctly, the explanation of the electoral victories of the New Deal in the '30s was not voters had changed their minds but that new voters had been added. Isolating rather than "converting" the opponents is standard strategy in your kind of politics as well as mine. Of course you assume the divine rightness of what you define as politics. Everything else is philosophy. And of course, for *every* kind of politics something which could be called philosophy has to define the goal of the political activity -- unless politics is like the Olympics, merely concern with winning a game in order to win it.
