This old chain letter has long since resulted in the mentioned email account being shut down. Months ago. It seems to me that the appeal skirts the border of anti-Islamic prejudice (just as folks rightly accuse Buchanan of deliberately stepping up to the border of anti-Semitism.) Would we refer to Israel as an "extreme Jewish society"? I don't question the good intentions of those who've circulated this. But I would hope that the sorry record of U.S. and other Western intervention in Afghanistan, the responsibility of the Western powers in creating the present situation, and the continued promotion of warlords by the West as late as last year would give folks some pause in circulating things like this. -b At 10:43 AM 10/21/99 -0400, you wrote: >------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Date: Thu, 21 Oct 1999 09:17:09 EDT >Subject: Women and the Taliban >To: PROGRESSIVE SOCIOLOGISTS NETWORK <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > The government of Afghanistan is waging a war upon women.
