A model once explained to me that the industry prefers thin models
because corporeal terrain like breasts "interferes with the line of
the clothes."

And, in my other favorite quote about the industry, an early issue of
Spy magazine quoted a long-time Vogue art director as saying (in the
pre-Photoshop days), "We airbrush everything. Even the best models
have a little tummy fat."

____________

CB: I can't come up with an economic motive, but it seems clear to me that the
thinness as a model body size is oppressive and suppressive of many ( most ) women's
comfortable sizes for them with healthy diet and exercise. How about instead of gay,
just male dominance of female clothes fashion sector capitalism as a general symptom
of some kind of misogyny at work, to be specified with more evidence and theory ?
