so-phis-ti-cat-ed (suh fis'ti kay tid) adj.
                  1. worldly-wise; not naive: sophisticated
                       travelers.
                  2. appealing to cultivated tastes:
                       sophisticated music.
                  3. complex; intricate: a sophisticated
                       electronic control system.
                  4. deceptive; misleading.

One might variously call neoliberalism "sentimental social Darwinism", in
the sense of the contrast between naive and sentimental poetry.
