This seems a bit overstated - not from the point of view of 
Argentina, but the parallel to Canada. Canada may be under the shadow 
of the U.S., but it is a rich G7 country and the home to major 
multinational corps and banks. It is, vis a vis the outside world 
except for the U.S., a mini-imperialist power. Argentina is 
unambiguously in a dependent position. Surely even Canadian 
nationalists don't deny that Canada is not dependent in the same way 
that Argentina is.
