Subject: Call for Participants: Grassroots Climate Education Project

PLEASE FORWARD--

The Green House Network, a non-profit group dedicated to public
education about the dangers of global warming, is seeking individuals
from across the United States who wish to participate in our Grassroots
Climate Education Project.

Over the weekend of December 3-5 1999, we will be holding a
training session in Portland, Oregon, for 25 people interested in speaking
to the public on the need for urgent action to address global warming. In
exchange for the training, each individual will commit to giving at least
5 speeches on campuses in their region next spring-- 125 talks nationwide.
These talks will be set up, coordinated and publicized by Green House
Network staff. Thus, the commitment on the part of the speakers is
limited to the actual delivery of 5 presentations over the course of the
spring of 2000. All expenses will be paid.

Participants should have an initial broad familiarity with the
global warming issue. The workshop will provide more detailed scientific
and economic information, as well as assistance in the preparation of an
effective 30 minute presentation. Participants will include college
professors, scientists, other professionals, and graduate students, and
must be United States residents.

Historically, students have been at the forefront of movements for
social change in America. Students have the most at stake in the climate
debate, and based on our experience, students care deeply about the
problem of global warming and are looking for a way to engage on the
issue. The Grassroots Climate Education Project-- with presentations on
125 campuses around the country, a concrete action agenda, and follow-up
support-- will provide the tools they need to get actively involved in the
climate debate.

To apply, please send an application by US mail to:
