In Japan, few things are expressly permitted or forbidden.  Japan 
never instituted sodomy law, even after capitalist modernization & 
dissemination of modern "science" of sexuality (e.g. psychology, 
psychoanalysis, etc.) displaced _shudo_ & _nanshoku_ from the center 
to the margin of culture & created homophobia & heterosexism.
