New Needs

[Michael Perelman]

New needs can be good.  Marx, in the Grundrisse, around p. 700 talks about
education as a new need for workers.  Insofar as needs are merely
positional goods, they are bs.

Ideally, we would want a society in which people could clearly identify
their own needs without outside pressure.
