This is utterly shameless. You can turn on WBAI during the fund-drive and
the new direction of the station smacks you in the face. Spirituality, new
age gurus, Sprint hucksters, Alton Maddox foaming at the mouth, etc. The
problem is quite simple. The Pacifica board is UNDEMOCRATIC. Not only has
it broken its own rules to select loyalists to add to the gang Clintonista
Berry appointed, it is busy changing the rules to make it even more
unaccountable. None of this matters to Cooper, because he perceives his
gig--rightfully--at the LA station as the fruits of a coup engineered by
the Pacifica board, the same kind of coup that has made me the beneficiary
of programs about how eating meat is bad because all the "stuff" has too
far to travel in my long intestines. Cooper hates KPFA because they are
reporting on the malfeasance at the top, and his opportunist bloc with the
Pacifica board.
