I have been impressed by Negri's early work, which I found both insightful and exciting. He has also paid his dues by serving time for his politics. The basic problem with his thesis seems to be that globalization [I know the problems with this term, but ] seems to have no real connection with the technical progress, which is central to Marx's stagist thesis. In other words, capitalism forced technical advances that feudalism inhibited. Globalization has less to do with a mode of production than a mode of control. Sorry, I have to go. -- Michael Perelman Economics Department California State University Chico, CA 95929 Tel. 530-898-5321 E-Mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
