Just a hypothesis: the unexamined assumption behind most coverage of the investigation is that there is a single organization -- even if a shadowy 'umbrella' -- or at least some kind of ethnic-fanatical conspiracy at the centre of the whole operation. What about the possibility that the insider trading and the terror attacks were carried out by two distinct entities with very different motives, opportunities and capacities? For the sake of argument let's say the organization doing the financial transactions was of the type organized crime/secret police and the organization carrying out the attacks was military/fanatical. It is not necessary to assume that both are pursuing a unified goal. In fact, assuming a unified goal leads right up several blind alleys. If there were two organizations, the relationships between them could range from symbiotic to penetration and provocation. The obvious model would be the relationship between the Czar's secret police and terrorist organizations in Russia in the late 19th century and early 20th. Tom Walker Bowen Island, BC 604 947 2213
