Mohammad,
I mentioned Frederick Abernathy, et al A Stitch in Time which is a 
study of transformation of the textile and apparel industries as a 
result of assimilation of info tech. It's almost 3 years old now, but 
I think it may be the most careful study available? have only glanced 
through it.
