In the weeks after 9/11 the memory of Pearl Harbor was repeatedly
evoked.

The recent revelation that Bush had some warning of an attack makes, to
me, the Pearl Harbor analogy much more useful.

FDR is still under attack for, whether true or not, knowing the
Pearl Harbor attack was coming and not alarming the forces on the scene,
with the intent of getting the US into WW II.

Now Bush faces the same issue. Investigations are threatened to find
out what he knew and when. The second piece, Bush's INTENT, if such it
was, to get us into a hot war with Iraq, and the Muslim world, has not
yet been addressed publically.

But Rob's recent post re Eagleton suggests that it will.
