I agree with this. But I think India needs at a century of sustained eonomic growth to abolish mass poverty. Consider China. Despite China's high growth rate, almost 20% of China's population (or 250 million people) survive on less than 1 $ a day. The rest live on $ 2 a day.This after 50 years of "socialism". It will take sustained economic development over a long period to abolish poverty in China, India and Indonesia. Ulhas
