[I didn't serve either. My student deferment became a "high lottery number" deferment. I would have gotten a 4-F (physical disability) for my bad knees, but the nice folks at the draft board told me that there was no point, since I had a student deferment. That's one benefit of living in a rich district: another board tried to draft a friend, simply because working-class kids from their district didn't go to college. How classy.]
