After falling off that fence, a friend (now an ex-friend) has actually said that (paraphrasing), "look at what the US did to Afghanistan. Why can't Israel do the same kind of thing?" (He later used the f-word at me -- something profs. don't do -- because I criticized Sharon for being a terrorist.) And the US is now combining detective, prosecutor, judge, jury, and executioner in a drone and a missile. It's part of the new race to the bottom, the downward harmonization of moral standards.
