In Detroit there is a demonstration being built for April 5 that will be probably 10k-15k, twice or three times the size of March 15, due to the participation of a number of key African-American churches and the fact that Rep. John Conyers and the UAW International is pushing it. I understand the UAW has assigned staff to build the march, which is extraordinary.
If a mass anti-war march made up substantially of African-Americans takes place in Detroit, that could be a redefining moment in local politics. I am cautiously optimistic. Alan Jacobson >I strongly suspect that if the USA cannot prevail in Iraq within a week or >so, these demonstrations will become much larger and more powerful.
