Chomsky has observed the convergence between liberal and totalitarian
thinking. DeLong is simply a totalitarian in his approach to these
matters. Anyone who dares raise principled criticisms of our
beneficence is "hiding the ball" to use DeLong's words, and deserves
to be slandered viciously. No matter that erstwhile good-guy
Christopher Hitchens demolished most of DeLong's vile fantasies years
ago, the proper totalitarian trots them out without such regard in
hopes of punishing the transgressor of propriety.

We have skewed our thinking greatly if we bestow the label "centrist"
on folks like DeLong. He is a dishonest coward and a bully, nothing
more.
