Bill,
I like what you're proposing here. We need some straightforward,
simple yet deep flyers and pamphlets. A whole lot of what "Reagan
Democrats" talk about is a critique of capitalism, all the while they
phrase their longings in terms of "competition", the "free market" etc.

CD's, MP3's, DVD's. First title release "A Fireside chat with URPE." Make
it a playful-pedagogical piece of art and give them to activists and let
them make copies and copies and copies that people can listen to themwhile
they're in their cars, home doing the dishes etc.
Lots of citizens are too time poor to read stuff and making rad pol-econ
easy to understand and fun to listen to might help a lot. So get some
mikes and video gear and record this summer's sessions -clear time for
lively speakers who give "informal" yet intense talks to people as well as
students in big classrooms that address contemporary issues- and spread it
like wildfire........:->

Doug Orr, the Real Costs of the War in Iraq: the Demise of Democracy in
America, Monday Feb, 9th and 16th, 8-9 PM
I must say that until a couple weeks ago, I had never heard of Doug Orr.
I
had gone to the Seattle Thunder Democracy Festival to tape David Korten
and
I thought the title of Doug's talk sounded interesting so I taped his
workshop. Like me, I think you are going to be glad that I did. All
present were unprepared for what they saw. Professor Orr who teaches
economics at EWU gave the most astonishingly comprehensive breakdown of
the
real reasons for the invasion of Iraq that I have heard yet! Connecting
all
the dots in a way that only a PhD economist could do, the good Doctor went
on for an hour and forty minutes. I can't help myself. Over the next two
weeks, I'm going to broadcast the whole thing. Tape it and watch it again
and again and when you emerge, you may not be an economist, but you will
have a degree in reality. See you in class!
