i, admittedly haven't looked at relevant data lately so someone may find evidence to contrary, but percentage of 'pure' independents is quite small, almost all are 'leaners', so many who claim to be 'independents' somehow always end up voting for same party candidates, if people are 'behaving' differently, they are more likely to split their tickets among dems and reps... michael hoover
