Inputs and outputs, though. I certainly wouldn't want to live in a precapitalist economy or in most forms of Actually Existing Socialism, but one argument that I always think ought to get more traction is that capitalism has singularly failed to shorten the working day.
I'm with you on that. But if there's more money to be made out of a longer workday, the stinking capitalists will lengthen the workday. And bend many of our minds around to thinking of it as normal. Even a petit bourgeois radical such as myself didn't leave the office until 9:30 last night.
