Job Description
  
The Cornell University Institute for Policy Research (www.cuipr.cornell.edu) is looking for a Research Associate, who will be responsible for conducting empirical and qualitative analyses of public policies and programs in the human services area, under the direction of a Principal Investigator. The individual will also contribute to the Institute's marketing, recruiting and Institute development efforts. Initial work is likely to be in the area of disability and/or health promotion.
 
Qualifications
 
The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. or Masters in Economics or other Social Science field, and have successfully completed courses in advanced statistical methods such as multiple regression and logit/probit analysis. Three or more years of relevant post-degree experience preferred, but not required. Considerable experience using a major econometric program (e.g., Stata, SAS) is required, including analyses of major survey, administrative, or health claim databases. The successful candidate will have strong empirical and writing skills, along with the ability to complete challenging new tasks creatively, without heavy reliance or help from supervisors are preferred. Ability to write for both technical and non-technical audiences is desired. Demonstrated ability to efficiently delegate work is also helpful.
 
In addition the candidate must be experienced in the use of word processing and spreadsheet. Experience with database and presentation software is a plus. The candidate must also be skilled at using email and obtaining information from the world wide web.
