What these people don't understand is that the rise in the use of food
stamps is NOT the result of increased demand, a result of the failure
of the economy. After all, as President Bush has stated again and
again, the economy is fundamentally sound.  Instead, it's a
supply-side success: in his infinite wisdom and munificence, President
Bush has followed his compassionate conservative philosophy to extend
access to food stamps to more and more people. His aim, it seems, is
for the majority to be getting them soon.
