What these people don't understand is that the rise in the use of food stamps is NOT the result of increased demand, a result of the failure of the economy. After all, as President Bush has stated again and again, the economy is fundamentally sound. Instead, it's a supply-side success: in his infinite wisdom and munificence, President Bush has followed his compassionate conservative philosophy to extend access to food stamps to more and more people.
