Sen. Obama said: >"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them ... And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."<
does anyone know if there's a full transcript of this speech available anywhere? it seems to me that we should never trust any quotes without the full context. Meanwhile, I think that Sen. Clinton's endorsement of a tax holiday on gasoline speaks much louder -- and more obnoxiously -- than what Obama said here. Pandering! and guess who would gain from that? the oil companies. -- Jim Devine / "Segui il tuo corso, e lascia dir le genti." (Go your own way and let people talk.) -- Karl, paraphrasing Dante. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
