from the New York TIMES: Israel and Syria Say They Are Holding Peace Talks in Turkey By ETHAN BRONNER
The governments confirmed that Israel and Syria have begun indirect peace talks, mediated by Turkey, aimed at reaching a comprehensive accord. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/22/world/middleeast/22mideast.html?8au&emc=au These damn appeasers!! As President Bush has said, "Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along... We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is — the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history." Now it is our loyal ally Israel that is appeasing those modern-day Hitlers, those terrorists and radicals, in Syria! Have they no shame?!? -- Jim Devine / "Segui il tuo corso, e lascia dir le genti." (Go your own way and let people talk.) -- Karl, paraphrasing Dante. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
