If the Bushwhackers and/or their Israeli allies are going to attack Iran, it will likely be after the US November election. After all, Cheney _et al_ likely prefer that McCain win. A war with Iran could encourage anti-war -- and thus anti-McCain -- sentiment.
On the other hand, if they are to secretly organize a replay of 911 in order to pump up fear and patriotism to help McCain and the endangered GOP, it would have to happen before the election. Of course, they clearly lack the competence to do so. So some other sort of "October surprise" is likely.
