Well I was just being funny. People have been thinking computers could do things for decades and it hasn't happened. But perhaps the current popular media conceit sparks some interesting discussion.

The main principle is computer aided communication getting more and more important as a part of what humans do to talk to each other. Theory is just one form of talking albeit trying to address things outside the normal discourse. What is theory then? I mean could we say something now that was unavailable to the nineteenth century?
