The New Yorker needs less defense. An Obamaphile 
excommunication hardly carries the same weight 
as a Khomeini fatwa did in the glory days. It seems 
unlikely that Barry Blitt will have to do a Rushdie 
and skulk around in a false beard, etc. 

Then too, Mohammed has been venerated by a lot more 
people for a lot longer than Obama, and he will still 
be venerated when Obama is universally execrated -- 
about six months after his inauguration, I'm betting.
