Two days ago I got a phone call.
"Earl Scanlan?" asked the voice. That's my legal name used by the
Highway Patrol, IRS and the County Recorder.
'Yes."
"I'm Kathy So and So and I'm a volunteer for the Republican Party. Do
you think the U.S. should do more drilling?"
"No," I answered.
"Thank you," and then she hung up. I thought it curious that the
question was the only one the Republican Party would deem necessary to
ask. Must be planning their strategy, I thought. Although I'm a
registered Republican for research purposes, I support Ralph Nader and/
or Cynthia McKinney as non-corporate presidential candidates.
The next night, last night, McCain's handlers' choice for vice
president gave her speech, calling for more drilling.
I'm on the losing end again.
