Gwen Ifill is partisan by birth.  She's black.  And -- to make things
worse -- she's educated, smart, and pretty.  Hence, she is perceived
by the right-wingers as the most extreme member of PBS' News Hour
group, no matter how much she might try to seem otherwise.

Among the regular correspondents, Kwame Holman (and to a lesser extent
Fred Sam Lazaro, who covers health care) has to bend over backwards to
avoid looking partisan.  Holman covers Capitol Hill and -- sin of sins
-- he's black and male.  His reports have to sound and look extremely
"neutral" or else.
