You are assuming that depressions can be averted. And your assumption is not unfounded: the depression that was coming in the period that started in 1966 was averted. But then, we had a "big" government! Today, the government is very "small". It will take a paradigm shift for the next government to grow the government "big" again for an effective fiscal policy, and my bet is that it is too late for that this time. Mine is just a bet, of course, but I already assigned an 100% probability to my bet. Whether I am right or wrong, only time can tell. I am doing good so far though!
