Nader spoke Friday in Bufalo and it was excellent.

For example, I learned something about Nader himself, namely, that when he was doing his stuff in the 60s and 70s, Washington had not been completely closed down to anything but corporate interests. But as he continued his fights, he found total barriers being erected and that is what turned him to politics and against both major parties (as he described his past). In other words, the change in Washington changed him.

His talk started by quoting Eugene Debs (never a postal stamp in his honor). The quotation Nader offered referred to the American people demanding so little of our government.

Debs described up-front the imperialist nature of U.S. wars. Nader's later comments reflected a similar position. Nader, however, does not describe himself as a socialist (at least as far as I know).

Nader's post-election strategy is to get 2000 people in every federal election district (435) to focus, sharply, on citizen interests vis-a-vis their representatives, i.e., corporations cannot vote but citizens can and should use their power. He claims that within 18 months of achievement a lot of progressive changes would get through Congress, e.g., single payer health care. He ran off a long list of entitlements in European countries which we don't have.

After the Buffalo event he was to have his first NBC national interview, but I haven't seen it covered. Before that, Nader took EVERY person at the mike who had questions to ask him, maybe 25-30.

Someone asked him whether 9/11 was an inside job and he replied that he didn't know enough but that the Commission was worthless from the get-go and he had no use for it. I took the opportunity to give him a copy of my book after the event was over and told him that the book is a comprehensive discussion of 9/11. Nader does say that he favors a new 9/11 investigation and he pointed to the referendum proposal for a new investigation being circulated for signatures in NYC.

I will be voting for Nader and I made a contribution to his campaign.
