Speaking of Marc Linder (who has an encyclopaedic grasp of the working time issue)...
A contest announcement came to my inbox yesterday from Working America, the "community affiliate" of the AFL-CIO. It's an essay contest on "green jobs" with the prizes being trips to a "Good Jobs, Green Jobs National Conference" in DC at the beginning of February. Perusing the conference agenda, there would appear to be no acknowledgment whatsoever of the role that work time reduction could play in environmental protection. Odd but not surprising. To remedy this oversight, the Sandwichman is offering supplementary prizes of copies of Peter Victor's book, "Managing Without Growth: Slower by design, not disaster" to contest entries that make the environmental case for shorter working time. See my announcement at http://econospeak.blogspot.com/2009/01/good-jobs-green-jobs-shorter-hours.html for details. -- Sandwichman _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
