ATTENTION STUDENT ACTIVISTS!

Since 1961 the Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund has provided need-based
scholarships to students at the college level who are involved in building
movements for social and economic justice. Early recipients worked for
civil rights, against McCarthyism, and for peace in Vietnam. Recent grantees
have been active in the struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia, and
other forms of oppression; building the movement for economic justice; and
creating peace through international anti-imperialist solidarity.

The Davis-Putter Fund has grants available for student activists who will be
enrolled in school during the 2009-10 academic year. The application,
instructions and information about the Fund and the students supported can
be obtained at www.davisputter.org. Applications and the supporting
documents -- transcripts, a personal statement, two letters of
recommendation, a photograph, Student Aid Report -- must be postmarked not
later than April 1.

Both undergraduates and students working towards graduate and professional
degrees enrolled in accredited schools are eligible. Although citizenship
is not a consideration, applicants must be participating in activities in
the US and enroll in an accredited program in the US in order to qualify.
Grants are for one year. Students may re-apply for subsequent years. The
maximum grant is $8,000 and may be considerably smaller depending on the
applicant's circumstances and the funding available. All the funds come
from individual donors, and there are 25-30 grants awarded each year. Those
selected to receive a grant will be notified in July.
